Where children have been learning through play for over 30 years.
We are currently accepting registrations for Fall enrollment. Anyone wishing to enroll their preschoolers for the 2008/2009 school year may contact Jennifer Allyn at 860-647-0560 for more information or to schedule a school visit.
Our age requirements have changed! Any child turning age 3 by December 31st is eligible for the 2-day program, and those turning age 4 by December 31st are eligible for the 3-day program. Space permitting, we are also offering 4-year-olds a 5-day program.
Bolton Cooperative Nursery School
We've included a brief summary of some of the tasks on each committee position for the Cooperative. You may choose from One Committee Assignments or select two from the Two Committee Assignments as indicted below.
We strive to keep the work fairly evenly spread and minimize the amount of time required by each family.
We thank all our parents past and present for all they do and have done to keep our school running smoothly for over 40 years!
One Committee Assignments
Board Positions
Co-Presidents (one from 3 day class and one
from 2 day class)
•Various duties including presiding over
meetings
•Handle teacher staffing and contracts
Secretary
- Creates list of Executive Board members
- Responsible for all correspondence and written materials of the Cooperative
Co Treasurers
Treasurer A
•disburse all monies
á handle payroll
•complete and mail all State and Federal tax forms, as well as Unemployment and Social Security forms
Treasurer B
á receive all monies
•prepare the Annual Budget with input from the Executive Board.
Membership Chair (3 day)
- Responsible for State paperwork
- provide all incoming members of the school with the proper paperwork and ensure it is filled out completely and remains current
Member at Large
- Coordinates dates with Church for meetings and committee work.
- Meets with Church officials when necessary.
Non-Board Positions
Co-Assistant Treasurers 2
Asst. #1 –
- Completes Secretary of the State annual report (says ÒDocument ReviewÓ at top)
- Prepares & distributes tuition bills
Asst. #2

- Assists Treasurers with Budget and/or Tax forms
- Makes bank deposits for tuition, registration fees, fines, and fundraising money
Membership Assistant 1 (2 day)
- Handles collection of medical forms
- Assists Membership Chair with State paperwork
- Handles
all matters regarding new incoming students.
Licensing (bi-annual) 1
- In July receives licensing package from Mail Chair
- Completes forms and maintains a copy for Cooperative records
Audit & Insurance 1

Performs quarterly internal audits

Provides File Clerk with the insurance
policy for the Cooperative master file
Committee Assignment & Activation 1
- Assigns parents to committees taking into consideration their choices as well as the qualifications needed for the position.
- Reminds people of committee tasks as dates approach, provides information sheets about each committee assignment so parents know what is expected
- Checks
in periodically with all Committee Chairs to be sure things are going
smoothly.
Publicity 1-2
When enrollment is low, 2 people will serve on committee as directed by Executive Board, otherwise this is a one-person position
- Handles all Cooperative publicity
- Sends articles for local publications, updates flyers and distributes, updates brochure and distributes.
Book Club 2 (2day/3day)
á Collects forms and payment and sends order to Scholastic.
á Packages up books and delivers to the school. Gives to parents.
For any parent not choosing one of the above one committee assignments, they will choose 2 assignments as indicated below.

Parent Meeting Set Up/Gifts 4 (2day/3day)
- Sets up chairs & puts them away at Parent meetings.
- Coordinates

File Clerk 2
- Contacts committee chairs and Executive Board Members to request the necessary documentation and files as required by the State.
- Maintain a copy of the updated Bylaws and other required documents. Shreds documents marked for distruction.
Supplies 1
Picks up supplies as requested by Director or Executive
Board.
Mail 2
á Pick up mail at Post Office Box every week and put mail in the cubbies for Executive Board members or deliver to Head Teacher, depending on what it is.
á Over the summer, give mail to the Secretary for distribution. This assignment is a half year assignment: June – November for the first parent, December – May for the second.
Computer 1
- Maintains website including adding updated forms to website.
- Maintains or assists with school computer and prints graduation diplomas.
Helping Parent Lists 2 (2day/3day)
- Obtains list of students and their birthdays from Membership Chair or Membership Assistant.
- Using a calendar format, add parents for helping parent day on or close to their child's birthday then fill in the remaining days in alphabetical order.
Fundraiser 3
(2 day/3 day)
- One
chair, 2 assistants (2 day/3 day).
Assistants collect money/tickets/order forms, etc. from parents for
their class.
- During the summer, the Chair brainstorms
with their committee regarding what the fundraiser options will be. The Chair brings their ideas to
the Parent Meeting in August for a vote. Once the Cooperative votes on the fundraiser(s)
for the year, the committee begins the process. If the vote was to hold a raffle, the Chair completes
the State paperwork right away to ensure it is prepared in time.
Maintenance Exterior 3 (2day/3day)
á
All 3 families
stain playscape and lay down fresh mulch.
á
Check weekly for
bees and removes or sprays nests as needed throughout the summer, into
the Fall and in the Spring. – the
families switch off monthly for bee patrol, i.e. one family for June, another
for July, the third for August, etc.
Maintenance Interior 4 (2day/3day)
- Paint classrooms periodically. Other interior work may include painting cubbies as needed or other projects as requested by the Exec Board or Director.
Secondary Committees
Gatherings 2 (2day/3day)
Provides refreshments for Open House and Get
Acquainted Day (if desired by Teacher).
Assists Head Teacher with Graduation (except for printing, which
Computer Chair handles).
Aquarium 1
Cleans tank as requested by Director. Takes fish home over holidays (heat is turned off in the building) and over summer break or finds a family willing to do so. Buys fish as needed.
Laundry 1
Launders curtains, costumes and other items
as requested by the Director. This
is done prior to the start of the school year, and every month throughout the
year.
Classroom Readiness 8
– 14 (depending on # of families)
Prepares classroom for the upcoming year. This includes cleaning toys, wiping down cubby surfaces, walls, and cubbies. The Director or Exec Board may request other tasks. No children. The Chair sets the date for the upcoming year in May.
Calendar 1
Creates calendar for the year. Coordinates dates with Committee Assignment & Activation person to include pertinent dates on calendar. Posts a copy of calendar on bulletin board. Sends reminders to Cooperative in cubbies for upcoming activities and events as needed.
Bulletin Board 4 (2day/3day)
Split into 2 halves of the year. The first 2 day/3 day team prepares the board for the beginning of the year and in October updates it with the fall theme. The second team takes over for winter and spring and updates board with themes for those 2 seasons.
